Als Epoden werden die 17 Gedichte eines schmalen Buches bezeichnet. Epoden deshalb, weil jeweils ein Langvers mit einem refrainartigen Kurzvers abwechselt.

Pillars of Society was Ibsen's first successful realist drama, first performed in 1877.
